What is crushed concrete road base?

Crushed concrete road base is recycled concrete that's been crushed and screened to a blend of stone and fines that locks together and compacts into a stable, load-bearing layer. It's the workhorse base material under driveways, parking lots, pads, and roads.

Why it works

The mix of coarse and fine particles is what makes a good base. The fines fill voids between the larger pieces so the material compacts tight with little movement, giving you a firm platform for concrete, asphalt, or pavers on top.

Common uses

Driveway and parking-lot base, structural fill, sidewalk and pad sub-bases, and general site work. For paver projects, a finer screening (paver base / 3/8 fines) is used as the setting layer on top of the base.
